Kara O’Brien, CMHC Intern

Kara is a counseling intern currently pursuing her master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling with a concentration in Addiction Counseling. She ispassionate about supporting adults as they navigate substance use concerns, relationship challenges, life transitions, anxiety, and stress.


Kara’s therapeutic approach is collaborative, client-centered, and evidence-informed. She incorporates motivational interviewing (MI), acceptance and commitmenttherapy (ACT), and meaning-making approaches to help clients explore their values, experiences, and sense of purpose while working toward meaningful andlasting change. Kara believes in meeting clients where they are and fostering a supportive, nonjudgmental environment where they feel empowered to build ontheir strengths, develop effective coping skills, and achieve their personal goals.
