Elle Gilbert, PsyD Doctoral Intern

(she/her/hers)

Being human means we love, we lose, we change, we struggle, and we begin again. My intention is to create a space to slow down, feel what needs to be felt, and be curious together about what has shaped you, what is happening within the process of therapy, and what you want to cultivate in your life.

My work focuses on supporting and being alongside teens and adults as they navigate challenges in relationships, move through periods of uncertainty and transition, and work to step out of patterns that may have once been adaptive but no longer serve them. This includes turning towards painful experiences, learning the embodied language of emotion, exploring questions of identity and belonging, and getting to know the different parts of ourselves so they can be understood and reintegrated into a more whole self. I also work with athletes and folks across performance domains who share these common human experiences while also navigating the unique psychological demands of competition and high-pressure, consequential environments. As I follow my clinical interests, I am pursuing further training in couples and family therapy, as well as in EMDR for the treatment of trauma.

While I embrace an integrated approach that is responsive and flexible, I am grounded in relational psychodynamic and feminist modalities. This foundation places value on understanding each person within the context of their relationships, histories, intersecting identities, and broader social worlds. I am particularly interested in how the past remains alive in our habitual ways of being and relating, and how compassionate, grounded understanding can make room for new possibilities. I strive to appreciate people as wonderfully complex, respect the expertise they hold about their own lives, and prioritize the expression and
development of their strengths and values. Therapy is a space where difficult things will be taken seriously while still leaving room for humor, playfulness, and the experience of being fully human together. I will bring presence and honesty in service of your growth, while trusting that the insight, healing, and connection you earn along the way will belong to you
