Kat Cowan, Pre-Licensed CMHC

Candidate for Licensure (she/her/hers)

Kat is a pre-licensed clinical mental health counselor who strives to create a warm, welcoming space where clients feel safe to be themselves, speak openly, andexplore life’s challenges without fear of judgment. She believes therapy is a collaborative process and works to meet each client where they are, recognizing thateveryone brings their own experiences, strengths, values, and goals into the therapeutic space.

Kat has a particular interest in working with anxiety, depression, grief, life transitions, sports performance, and relationship concerns. Her approach incorporatescognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), strengths-based therapy, and acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT). She believes there is no one-size-fits-all approach totherapy and values finding creative, individualized ways to navigate complex and unique challenges. Kat is continually learning about new therapeutic theories andinterventions so she can expand the tools she has available to support her clients.

Outside of counseling, Kat enjoys staying active through running and strength training. As a former Division I track and field athlete, athletics continues to be an important part of her life and has shaped her interest in sports performance and the connection between mental and physical well-being. She also loves exploring good food, especially Thai and Chinese cuisine, and enjoys trying new restaurants and dishes. She believes that the little things we enjoy in everyday life—from movement and food to connection and new experiences—can be an important part of finding balance and creating a fulfilling life.
